Business zakah is often far more complex than personal zakah. Every business has unique financial structures, assets, liabilities, ownership arrangements, and operational realities that affect the proper calculation of zakah.
Every business deserves a thoughtful methodology rather than a generic calculation.

Common Questions
Questions business owners ask us most.
Every engagement begins with an initial consultation to understand the complexity of your business and determine the appropriate scope of advisory services.
- What is Business Zakah Advisory?
- An annual advisory relationship that produces an accurate, methodologically consistent zakah calculation for your business — accompanied by a written report, a strategy meeting, and ongoing guidance throughout the year.
- How is business zakah different from personal zakah?
- Business zakah involves receivables, inventory, cash reserves, debts, partnership interests, and multi-entity structures. Each requires careful analysis under Islamic principles rather than a single formula.
- Can you work with my CPA?
- Yes. We coordinate directly with your accountant to gather the information required for an accurate calculation, and communicate in a manner that respects existing professional relationships.
- Can you advise businesses outside New Jersey?
- Yes. We advise Muslim-owned businesses nationally, with engagements conducted remotely or in person where appropriate.
- Can you work remotely?
- Yes. Most engagements are conducted through a combination of secure document exchange and scheduled advisory meetings.
- What documents are required?
- Generally: financial statements, balance sheet, receivables and inventory schedules, debt schedules, and details of any subsidiaries or partnerships. We provide a tailored request list at the outset.
- What if I own multiple businesses?
- Multi-entity structures are common among our clients. Business Zakah Strategy is designed for holding companies, partnerships, and portfolios of operating businesses.
- Do you prepare taxes?
- No. The firm does not provide tax preparation. We coordinate with your CPA and remain focused on zakah advisory and broader stewardship.
- How often should business zakah be reviewed?
- Annually, at minimum. Your business evolves each year — new entities, financing, receivables, and structures all affect the calculation.
A Continuing Advisory Relationship
Your business changes every year.
Your zakah should too.
As your business grows, your zakah obligations evolve. Annual advisory ensures that every year's calculation reflects your current business structure and financial position.
